Fruit Jaffles

Hi Everyone,
You can tell by the looks on some of our faces that the Junior Crew Kids were not very impressed with the idea of making these fruit jaffles.
'We want to make cheese sandwiches like last week!' they protested.
It's good to try foods that you don't think you will like. Some times they turn out to be your favourite food of all!
The Junior Crew kids will be writing about their experience on Monday. In the mean time you might like to give these fruit jaffles a go and tell us what you think of them.

What you need:
Fruit loaf slices
I table spoon of Strawberry jam
I/4 of an apple grated or 1heaped tablespoon of apple puree
1 teaspoon of sultanas
A sandwich toaster
2 table spoons of margarine
What to do:
Pre -heat your sandwich toaster
Butter two slices of fruit toast
Turn over one slice and spread with strawberry jam
Sprinkle the jam with grated apple and sultanas
Place the second slice of bread on top with the butter side facing up
Place inside sandwich toaster until the sandwich is golden brown and sealed on all sides
Allow to cool on a serving plate.
Enjoy
Variations
Substitute the fruit loaf with plain bread
Add a slice of cheddar cheese ( Yum)

What's Bugging You!

Ricky:
We are making paper mache bugs. It is hard but it is fun. The hard part is the body because it is tough to stick the paper on.
Cory:
We made bugs and we had to use glue to stick the paper on. It is fun to do. It is sticky when you do it. Sometimes Sue and Sarah help me and sometimes I rip and glue it.
Eleanor:
We are making paper mache bugs. We use paper to stick on. Glue is sticky. I don't like it! You have to rip little bits of paper to stick on. My bug is small.

Custard Apples

Hi Everybody,
On Friday we went to the supermarket. We decided to buy a custard apple to taste because nobody had ever tasted one before; not even Sarah or Sue. We took it back to school for a taste test. Here are the results.

Eleanor:
That is disgusting. I'm not going to eat it. No way Jose !

Tim:
It looks yuk but it tastes good. It tastes really yummy. Can I have some more Miss Sue?

Rick:
I tried it but it's gross ! Can I put my bit in the bin?

Braydon:
Hmmm good. I want more please.

Lauren :
Licked her lips and grinned then looked for another piece.

Cory
It tastes good. I really like it! Can I have some more?

Sarah
Well I tried it but I don't really like the texture of it. I don't think I would eat it ever again.

Sue
It looks disgusting but it tastes great. It's nice and sweet. It's a bit gritty like eating a fresh fig.

Some people like custard apples and some people don't. Why don't you try one and tell us if you like them.
If you click on the picture of the custard apple you can watch a video about how they are grown and how you can cook with them.

Autumn Leaves

Eleanor:

I'm playing in the leaves. There are three colours: red, orange and yellow. The tree is in our school garden. It's the most beautiful tree in the world. The leaves felt soft.

Molly and Tess

Molly and Tess are friendly dogs. Their breed is Border Collie. They like to play 'fetch'. At our school we are allowed to have dogs. They belong to Andy.
Eleanor
